PLEASE READ THOROUGHLY! IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT YOU FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS AFTER YOUR PROCEDURE.
THE DAY OF TREATMENT
In the first 4 hours after the treatment, absolutely no water touch the brows included your own sweat!
Days 1–7: Moisturize & Cleanse
● Gently cleanse the brow area with water and a mild cleanser like Cetaphil to remove bacteria, oil, and product buildup. (Don’t worry, this won’t remove the pigment.) Use your fingertips with a light touch, and pat dry with a clean tissue. Avoid cleansers with acids (glycolic, lactic, AHA) or exfoliants.
● Once your brows are clean and dry, apply a rice grain-sized amount of the aftercare ointment (provided in your take-home kit) using a clean cotton swab. Gently spread a thin layer—it should be barely visible. Avoid over-applying, as this can suffocate the skin and slow healing. Never apply on damp skin.
- Dry/Normal Skin: Apply 3–5 times daily through Day 7.
- Oily Skin: After Day 1, apply only if the area feels tight or dry.
NOTE: Wash hands with antibacterial soap before you touch your eyebrows. DO NOT RUB THE AREA IN ANY WAY.
SHOWERING
For the next 7 days, limit hot showers to 5 minutes or use warm water instead—excess steam can disrupt healing and cause pigment loss. Avoid getting your brows wet except during cleansing. To help, tilt your head back when washing your hair or cover your brows with plastic wrap while showering.
ESSENTIAL AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS (FAILURE TO FOLLOW CAN IMPACT THE INTEGRITY OF THE HEALED BROWS!!):
● Do NOT pick / scrub or scratch your PMU Brows. Eyebrows will “shed” this is normal and occurs naturally. Picking the skin may result in improper healing and discolor saturation.
● Do NOT attempt to pick at flaking brows, or you risk pulling out the pigment and/or causing scarring.
★ Please AVOID for 10 days:
● All products such as creams, exfoliates or Vaseline, Aquaphor or any other products than the ointment I provided in your after-care take home package (including makeup) on eyebrow area.
● No heavy sweating! This includes hot yoga. Sweat contains salt, which can infect and potentially prematurely fade or alter the color of your permanent makeup. Moderate exercise is fine.
● Saunas/ Hot Tubs / Swimming (Pools, Lakes, Rivers, Ocean ETC)/ Whirlpools / Steam rooms or sauna.
● Facials/Facial massage and any other skin treatments.
● Please avoid sleeping on your new brows for the next 10 days, as this can impact the pigment retention. Make sure you use a clean pillowcase, just in case you do roll over in your sleep to avoid contaminants coming into contact with your new brows!
★ Please AVOID for 30 days:
● Do not expose your brows to sun or use a tanning bed, always use an SPF.
● Avoid laser light treatments as this can darken, lighten and distort the pigment.
● Avoid Light therapy, chemical peels, Microdermabrasion while healing.
● NO Botox
★ ALWAYS AVOID:
● Creams containing regeneration factors (Retinol, Vitamin E, Vitamin C, Anti-Aging, Acne Creams) near the brow area.
● Laser treatments over the PMU Brow area (Fraxel, IPL, etc), as they can destroy the pigments, and potentially cause burns.
★ Noteworthy: Use of antibiotics and hormonal therapy can lead to faster pigment fading. ALWAYS protect your new brows from the sun with minimum SPF 50 (with the exception of the first 7 days), or a hat whenever sun exposure is anticipated to prevent premature fading of your new PMU Brows.
HEALING STAGES
1. Pigment is not covered with the top layer of the skin yet and is nicely visible. The color is vibrant, and the lymphatic fluid is absorbed.
2. Three days after the treatment, the pigment will stand out more. The shape gets a little thicker, the color richer, and lymphatic secretion is no longer discharged. The skin dries from the top.
3. After three days, brows are softer, maybe a little itchy but not sensitive to touch.
4. The pigment slowly begins to peel off after 5-7 days; in no case should scabs form in large pieces.
5. At the place where the lymph has dried out in a bigger amount, larger scabs are formed. The rest peels off softly.
6. Bigger parts of the brows are coming off, which are dry to the touch. Tattooed areas are almost invisible, and pigment is absorbed in deeper layers.
7. Almost the entire brow is peeled off, and it might look very pale. Clients are often afraid the pigment didn’t absorb well, while the truth is it just changed its color tone.
8. When the brows are completely peeled off, they might seem dull, but they are still in the healing process, and instructions must be followed. Pigment is still in the works for another 30 days, and after the complete regeneration from both inside and out, the color starts to get more saturation.
9. The color is more vivid than the previous days. The eyebrows have their final color, and the tattooed hair strokes look like natural ones. Most parts of the eyebrows are nicely healed, and white patches can occur up to 40 days; these can be fixed by filling up later on.
Remember, patience and proper aftercare are key to achieving the best results during the healing process!
